Sarah MacGillivray | Halifax Based Therapy

MSW Practicum Student

I am a Registered Social Worker completing my practicum with Solasta, and I’m looking forward to working with the Solasta team and community. I’m completing my Master’s of Social Work through Dalhousie University, and hold a Bachelor of Social Work through the University of Victoria.

I have well-rounded experience working with gender-based violence, with people who are unhoused, residential care, supportive housing, with people who are criminalized, various community-based programs, and people who are navigating the legal system, with youth, adults, and children. I hold the values of intersectionality, social justice, community, holistic care, relationality, and harm-reduction close to my heart in practice and am passionate about walking alongside people in their healing journeys.

I am eager to gain experience with various approaches, including Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing throughout my practicum, and am looking forward to opportunities to serve the community!

In my spare time, I love to be by the water, travel, and spend time with family and friends.

Sessions with Sarah are offered for free.
